It is a unique experience. The tent rooms are so cute and had nice details. The staff was so warm and welcoming. Loved our stay! We did the morning safari with them and had a great experience. Our female ranger was so wonderful. She is sweet, smart and tells great stories to fill the time while you are waiting to see spot the animals. I would recommend going with them for safari. They really go above and behind. Also we had coffee and tea in the jeep! So cool.

We visited Yala for two days (with two separate game drives - one evening and one morning one) and although we enjoyed the animals we observed, we did not have any sightings of leopards despite being the national park with the highest concentration in the world. But that is nature so we were just unlucky on those days. However, the most disappointing aspect of Yala was the sheer number of vehicles allowed into the park at one time. As soon as elephants or leopards are sighted, drivers communicate among themselves and vehicles all rush to the scene creating a massive traffic jams. This makes it feel very mass market and doesn’t seem very respectful of the wildlife

Terrible time. No wild animals as expected.
Terrible time. No wild animals as expected. Roads are all around the jungle which is pretty disturbing to the wild life. After all it is supposed to be a protected zone for wild life. Jeeps are crawling every corner of the territory. Amused to see all of that disturbing scenes in a wild life protected zone. It's like business zone. Poor animals.

I loved Yala.
I loved Yala. The number of different animals seen was slightly disappointing but apparently wash outs due to rain prevented us from accessing some internal roads. The sunrise and scenery were stunning. I would rate it as good value despite the lack of animals. The whole experience was wonderful.

The national park in Yala is beautiful however it is hard to drive around as the roads are poorly maintained. There is a large populatin of birds and i think this safari would suit bird watchers more than those who want to see the elephants. The 6am -6pm safari is too long.
Sigiriya is far superior when it comes to large herds of elephants.

The hike in the nature reserve was amazing, we saw lots of amazing animals and landscapes.
Were lucky and we were able to meet the tiger as well.
It is important to note that the trip should take drinks and food, the hotel staff where we were did not tell us the length of the trip and did not make sure to let us know that we should take care of ourselves.
Of course we were smarter and brought with us the necessary equipment ..
But there were those next to us who did not and that was unfortunate

We stayed at Laya Beach resort which was very beautiful and was very close to our safari's which made our stay even better.
The beach, however, was too rough to swim which was a little disappointing.
Leopard Trails is one of the more unique hotel options in Sri Lanka and especially around Yala National Park. Our dedicated Guide/assistant for all things at the hotel and in the Park was especially lovely, efficient and useful to have. The food was excellent and plentiful and the chef was especially kind in providing special requests. Every meal was presented nicely and it never felt like we were in a tented camp but rather a semi-outdoor restaurant with gorgeous lighting in the evening and elegant meals throughout our stay
Fantastic little campsite in the middle of the Sri Lankan bush, only accessible by 4WD. Head in here and feel the serenity. With just the two tents it's a small, perfectly-formed operation run by the wonderful host Nero, who not only looks after your every need but whips up amazing meals in his little camp kitchen, served on a table under the stars, with a bonfire to complete the magic. In the morning Nero took us on a safari in the nearby Yala National Park, which was magical at sunrise. Highly recommended.
This is most unique hotel you can stay in Sri Lanka. Staff is very friendly, helpful and they make sure they do whatever you request. Even cook can cook you if you request something out of the menu and whatever he cook was amazing. Rooms are super clean, bed comfortable. Minibar is full with drink, snacks and for free. They provide security of you because of wild animals they escort you from/to room or facilities whenever you need. We use Spa and 2 Balinese girl also doing good massage which I can recommend
This is an incredible hotel that exceeded our expectations in many ways. It is hard to fault - the staff regularly went out of their way to meet our needs. The facilities were exceptional - our family pods were very comfortable and the decor classy and in keeping with safari vibes. Kids loved our private plunge pool!
The spa was fabulous - possibility one of the best massages I have ever had thanks to experienced therapists. The quality of the food and choice at the restaurant can not be faulted.
Wild Culture Yala was a very warm, welcoming hotel with a great restaurant, pool and friendly staff. The room was big and comfortable, with air con, great shower and was very clean.
WiFi connection was good.
Restaurant was delicious, the packed lunch for safari was fine and plentiful.
Really nice pool, pool bar, archery, croquet, air rifles
The hotel also organised us a safari, which was 30 mins drive from the hotel to gate 1.
Suresh was a great host and very attentive.
Fantastic location, close to long stretch of empty beach. The host Hansa is super friendly and makes amazing Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner. The room was simple, but perfectly comfortable, with quiet and effective air con. Access is down a very bumpy unmade road, but iur driver had contacted the hotel in advance and arranged to meet Hansa on the main road and he picked us up. The safari organised by the hotel was very good.
During dinner on the first evening an elephant walked right past our dining table - it was magical. The hotel often gets wildlife roaming around the hotel grounds and it's part of what makes Cinnamon Wild Yala feel so special.
The room was lovely, the tuna on the A La Carte was cooked to perfection and the breakfast hoppers were also delicious. Brilliant location for safari too!
It’s literally living in the nature. You could hear the sound of peacocks and other birds in the residence. They also provided good service both in orientation and food serving. We were provided with delicious curry and fried rice. We booked safari through the hotel and the staff came with us as guide, helping us spot a lot of treasure animals. That’s the highlight in our stay.
The tents were super comfortable and clean. The atmosphere was so nice, pitch dark at night with fireflies all around. There are peacocks, all kinds of birds, cows, dogs in the hotel perimeter, kids enjoyed a lot. Dinner (bbq) and breakfast was good and filling. It is approx 25 min away from Yala National park entrance, so it is convenient.
The property is soooo old! Nothing is up to date. No decoration in the hotel or in the room. Carpet and curtains are dirty. Nothing is like in the picture. Most of the staff don’t speak English. The service is extremely slow! The food is really average. The matresses are dirty and all damaged as per the pictures.
Very smart and spacious hotel. The room was fantastic, everything very clean and in good taste. The staff are extremely professional and friendly at the same time. Abishek at reception runs the whole place very smoothly and speaks very good English. They have a wonderful cook.
Lovely experience - they organized the morning safari for us and we also did a small night safari with the hotel.
Staff were all so lovely and very informative about the national park.
Rooms were comfortable.
This hotel, on the edge of Yala National Park is like a dream hotel. the staff are amazing and setting perfect and the wildlife which roam freely just make this hotel one of the best experiences you can have.
I booked this hotel for our UK client who visited Sri Lanka. They enjoyed their time at Laya Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Asya Tours Kalutara will recommend this hotel for further travellers
Great location for Yala National park. They arranged us safari in advance and takeaway breakfast too. very nice & clean, lovely swim pool, accommodation was excellent. staff very friendly and helpful.
Excellent boutique hotel with 3 rooms, excellent service and meals. The manager had great customer focus, providing a late breakfast/brunch when returning from Yala game park. Dinner by the pool.
This was my second visit. Wanted to add an extra room and they were very accommodating. Didn’t get any food this time coz we only stayed for one night before our yala safari.
