Went at the very end of March. It got very windy but overall the weather was perfect for long walks on the beach and visiting the downtown shopping areas. It’s busy but not too crowded at that time of year. The beaches themselves were gorgeous both day and night. I recommend taking the few minute drive north to Cape Henlopen State Park for those beaches as well, or take a long walk if your legs feel good. Great views of lighthouses and more. The seafood was excellent at each location we went, but note that if you go before April, you’ll likely not be able to find steamed blue crab on the menu.Hazle - 10Scored 10

Great beach … lots of stores to browse thru .. lots of seats to rest .. great food places to eat and dine ..bars too !! We were there off season so plenty of half priced dinners each nite … and happy hours too !!

There are many shops and restaurants to chose from.
There are many shops and restaurants to chose from. This time we had a nice seafood dinner at Finns. We also stopped for a snack & drink at the Big Oyster. Both were great. We enjoyed visiting Schellville Village on one of its last nights. This is something we'd like to try again maybe next year probably in early December as some of the vendors had already closed down when we were there. It was also fun to see the Polar Plunge teams making their annual New Year's Day plunge at Cape Henlopen Beach.

The room was huge, and we were upgraded. The breakfast was great and included with the stay. There was a wine and cheese reception as well as cookies in the lobby. All in all, our stay could not have been better.

People in the area was friendly, went to a restaurant called ( Henlopen City Oyster House) awesome must visit when you out there. Ice cream shop was awesome oh and I nearly forgot Crabby Dicks them nice and people they had me laughing , the StarBucks on Coastal Highway. The hotel is split into 2 locations, the Avenue and Avenue 2. The Avenue is the hotel with the restsurant, spa, indoor pool etc. The Avenue 2 is around 12 rooms Motel style above a bar who plays loud music til 1am about a quarter mile from the main place. You can use all the facilities in the main place but you are not part of it. The beds in these rooms are also very hard and the covers are rough and coarse.JJonUnited States of America

Tina, one of the owners, was on the main desk, and she was great: friendly, competent, and caring. We would definitely consider staying there again.
