Dullstroom is really lovely for a weekend away or a stopover from the Kruger area.
There are lovely shops and fantastic restaurants. The people are super friendly and its easy to walk around and discovery little things.
Mrs Simpsons restaurants is fantastic and the hosts are amazing. We also had wonderful meals at the MayFly, Baker Brothers, The Waffle Shop and, of course, Harries Pancakes.
It can get cold there but in general, all the places are kitted out for this and are warm and cosy.
In all honestly, the meals and curios are not cheap and some stores feel a bit like tourist traps but then again, no one is forcing you to purchase anything so it's up to your budget how much you spend. But don't expect a cheap little town.
The drive from Johannesburg is quite pleasant as most of the roads are actually in fantastic condition ... BAR the small drive through Belfast. So sorry for that little town ... the roads are terrible.
Oh ... be careful of cows and goats on the road. A cute sight but can be dangerous, especially on a misty morning.
Always happy for a little trip to Dullstroom!

Quaint and quiet village once you leave the main road with its cheek-by jowl shops, restaurants and bric-a-brac outlets. Beautiful countryside to explore once you leave the town. A few very expensive shops some of which sell quite a lot of imported products ...why? A few more affordable options for fly-fishing in terms of catch-and-keep options would be appreciated. More locally manufactured and produced products would have been appreciated e.g. why do all fruit sellers, sell exactly the same fruit coming from Limpopo Province!

The town closes on a Tuesday and some shops stay also close until their is more people in the town... Weird. Whiskey tasting can only happen when there is a big group of people, I completely missed out on that one, even at The Highlander Hotel I was staying, I was really looking forward to do the Whiskey tasting. Sorry 😞 , make sure you are a big group for that one!!

Fantastic location.
Fantastic location. Make sure you bring Doom spray as flies are continuous. Fellow guests that did not stay in the superior villas were complaining of sloppy housekeeping and really poor building maintenance. The restaurant next to reception has really poor attention to service and many guests complain of inattentive staff and poor quality food.

Dullstroom is a quaint little town, it is the ideal spot to rest and rejuvenate. there are plenty of small little shops and plenty pubs and restaurants. If you love whiskey there is a perfect whiskey tasting venu (Wild about whiskey). The same with gin (Dullstroom Gin).
There is an abundance of fly fishing dams and plenty horse riding venues.
There is plenty to keep you busy for a couple of days.
The accommodation was cozy, yet spacious. Everything was perfect! The house is well organised and all little details are taken care of from complementary milk in the fridge, to a bag of wood for the fireplace upon arrival. We were also surprised with a bottle of sparking wine for our birthday celebration. You literally do not have to bring anything extra. Just pack your clothes and come - shampoo, lotions, body wash and hairdryers are all provided. It felt like a cosy hotel house.
Beautifully appointed decor, cozy barn cottage , almost like a conversion you would find in the Cotswolds.
Our unit had everything a household could need. The garden and d landscaping was meticulously attended there was an outside deck/ patio on both levels.
The bathroom features were large double showers …opening to a secluded outdoor garden niche, a Victorian style bath tub, lovely robes and toiletries.
Our stay was much too brief we could highly recommend Tarry Cottages.
Beautiful location, tranquil and relaxing. Cottage was cosy, comfortable and beautifully appointed. Really enjoyed the fireplace. Kitchen was more than adequate for our needs. Hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Lovely, friendly dog visited us each day.
Nature walks were great and fishing was relaxing. Good facilities nearby at the hotel and in the quaint town.
Lovely place for a breakaway from city life.
Perfect location, within easy walking of the village center and restaurants. Perfect place, it is like having your own small villa with garden, equipped with everything that you might need and then some. Private and quiet. The hosts sent a comprehensive information package already in advance and Greg helped with local advice to make a maximum out of my stay. Will happily visit again. Great experience.
Was welcomed on arrival with great friendly service. Beautiful scenery. Hotel beautiful ,comfortable and clean.
10 out of 10. Food was delicious. Service during breakfast and dinner exceptional. Rooms were clean and comfortable, fire place in room helped with cold nights. Loved it. Will definatly be seeing us again...
Was a great place for walking around, peaceful and beautiful, fresh air, a great place to fish.
Nice breakfast and lunch at the hotel located nearby. They also have spa & massage you can book.
Misty cottage is a very nice place very closed ( walking distance) to the restaurants and the market place. I love that is in quite place. I would definitely book this place whn at Dullstroom.
Great location in Dullstroom town, walking distance to Dullstroom Inn and hotel and all the shops and restaurants in the main street. Spacious property with 4 en-suite bedrooms.
The place was so cosy! Electric blanket, fireplace, marshmallows and sherry were really good touches! You can see a lot of love goes into these quaint cottages.
Still the best pub 'n grub in Dullstroom. Stays open later than the main toursits venues that all close down at 5pm. Food is great and good value for money.
The prelim fire in the evenings. Good coffee in the room. Great meals. Great walk around the dams and up the hill behind hotel. Great choice for breakfast.
