Maslinica is not the main town on Solta but definitely the place to be as it is beautiful and everything is within walking distance. There is only one grocery shop which is a bit more expensive than other islands. There are no scooters for hire and taxis come from the next town over. But therein also lies the beauty as Maslinica is not (yet) commercialized and so close to nature with a relaxing atmosphere and well worth the visit!

It is a quaint secluded little village but has grocery shopping; souvenir and local produce shops; excellent restaurants and bars: restaurants Sampjer and Martinis Marchi are some of the best places to sample local cuisine, especially seafood, with great service and attention. Everything in Maslinica is within a walking distance but Sampjer will provide a free pick up and return service on request. Also, there are electric bikes available for hire to explore the area.
It has small marina with visiting boats that provides an extra people watching opportunity. You can hire a boat with or without skipper for your own day trip. Also, on the islands there are tours for wine, olive oil and honey tasing.
Don’t miss a shot of grappa at breakfast (!) - apparently, is a local tradition for a medicinal reasons ;)
There are a large pebble beach with a lovely bar next to it and lots of access points of the rocks for an excellent wild swimming in pristine water and sunbathing. Bring your water shoes.
The water is so clear that the boats appear flying over the azures. Fantastic sunsets with views over nearing desert islands. Beautiful place. We wish we stayed longer.

The yacht port is really nice with its old architecture and the impressive castle. There are also some cool shops and restaurants at the square. The nature is amazing, although the main beach is mediocre - it's better to go to the rocks on the side of the castle! :)

Maslinica is a beautiful fishing village, although you do get a number of yachts stay over night this just adds to the harbour. It can get busy when the tourist boats visit twice a day but they come for about an hour and then are gone. There is a good supermarket and a couple of small shops, a great bakers open in the mornings. We found some lovely restaurants and bars. The beach is clean and has small pebbles and clear blue sea, easy to get in and a few areas you can jump off from. The local bus is good and worth a visit to the centre of Solta, although there is not much there, there is a good fruit, veg and fish market in the morning and two good supermarkets and pharmacy and nice to walk around the small streets, with a few cafes. The ferry over from Split is easy and the local bus is there waiting to take you to Maslinica.

This village is picture postcard Adriatic .
This village is picture postcard Adriatic . It does get busy in the daytime with day trippers but you can take yourself up into the hills and picnic amongst the olive groves or visit secluded bays along ancient track ways ( no cars !). Best to take some waterproof footwear as the sea has plenty of sea urchins . Very painful if you step on one . Otherwise the water is incredibly clear and full of fish . Best two restaurants are Sismis in the next bay and its sister restaurant Sakajet on the harbour , service is excellent and the seafood exemplary .
