The most beautiful accommodation I stayed during my time in South Africa. Ripon Cottage is truly a gem. Host was courteous, easy to work with, and had great suggestions. The home was impeccable - clean, with all features I could expect and more, and a jaw-dropping view of the mountains. 100% will stay here again on my next visit.

We were in a lodge and our friends were in the next one. We all ate together. A
Meal was supplied the first night as arranged. It was roast chicken and all trimmings and was delicious. The next night we had a barbecue with loads of meat provided. We had chicken piri piri and chicken curry. Everything was very tasty.
We went to Himeville by taxi from San Lameer. It was a 4 hour drive but interesting route. We went up the Sani Valley pass to Lesotho which was a long and challenging route in a Land Cruiser. That was an organised day trip. Amazing views.
We would not have gone to San Lameer for a night if we come again. We returned direct to Durban.

I didn't realise that the trip from the Howick turn off was 160kms long, the road had many potholes, so better to drive it in the day time.
I loved the museum, the Christmas market and the Angora weaving place.
The people were very friendly and helpful.
Definitely worth a return visit.

Himeville is a sweet little country town with a weaving shop, antiques shop, quite a few nice restaurants and cafes, and a very informative museum run by volunteers as a labour of love. It is close to the hiking trails and Sani Pass.

Peaceful place, scenery is amazing with beautiful views of the mountain. The food is delicious, especially dinner- thanks to the Chef and catering staff. The price for nibbles very reasonable. The bar is a lovely place to unwind after hiking. Very friendly staff and superb service. A great location closer to Sani Pass Lesotho. I will definitely visit again. The Spa could be more accommodating.... I arrived an hour or so before the close but could not slot me in😑. Had an early tour the next day, so we missed the Spa.

All I can say is outstanding service and welcome from the hosts and staff they catered to our every need making sure we always kept well informed and asked us if we needed anything else, they even went out of their way to provide fun things for the kids to do, I highly recommend Glen Islay Cottage, you guys and the team are AWESOME!!!! Thanks so much for everything ❤
This place was clean, quiet, with plenty of room to roam. Cute little creek running through pastures with easy access to town and Sani Pass.
The staff was communicative and helpful. Providing every convenience. Even if experiencing loadshedding, there was emergency lights, candles, lanterns, and propane cook top.
The bathrooms had generous soaking tubs...with plenty of hot water.
I'd like to express a huge appreciation to the hosts who helped us a lot when it happened that our car broke down. There are many hosts who can handle positive travel scenarios and just a few who can handle negative scenarios. Those hosts are the latter which is great. And for the rest it was a normal accommodation on the farm — good room and breakfast.
The location was excellent and very close to Sani Pass.
The breakfast was excellent.
The communication from the lodge was much appreciated while we were travelling and the allowed a late check-in due to a flat tyre. Silindele also offered to call a tyre company for us.'
Electric blankets and a fireplace.
view from the terrace

For us, Himeville Arms is the perfect stop over point in our 12 hour journey from Johannesburg to the Wild Coast. The hotel is quiet, beds are very comfortable, rooms are clean, bathroom newly renovated.
Staff are friendly and helpful, going out of their way to be of assistance.
Our 2nd night stay on our 6 night away trip brought us to Himeville Arms.
A decent portion of food for dinner before having a night cap (Jagermeister straight out of the freezer) in the bar.
Then retiring to a spacious bedroom for a good night's rest before continuing on our trip.
Very cute apt in the beautiful town of Himeville. Great location for a trip to the Sani pass. The apt was very clean with a comfortable bed, kitted out kitchen, garden area, fire, jacuzzi. Judy was a very welcoming host and we really enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay, the room was clean, warm and welcoming. The hotel catered to our needs.Loved the smart TV, still enjoyed catching up on our favorites TV shows away from home . The food was tasty! We are definitely coming back.
We had a tranquil stay in a very pretty part of South Africa. The cottage is beautifully furnished and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely stay there again, if ever we travel through to Himeville.
The food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel manager checked on us frequently and made us feel like important guests. Truly wonderful stay. The hikes are stunning.
The property is well kept and located in a very nice place next to a lake. Very clean and well looked after by. respectful team of workers who seem to enjoy their place at the hotel.
The food variety, the scenery, cleanliness, swimming pools, the parking and the Karaoke night was excellent. The highlight was the Sani pass tour, it was very interesting.
