Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

The room was clean and relatively new looking.
The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment.
This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach).
Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

Beautiful little hippie Place with lots of Restaurants, Bars and Cafés.
The beach in matala, the red beach and the caves of matala are a must see. When you are in matala I would recommend the Restaurants Georges Yard, Plaka and Hakuna matata.
Our stay in this hotel was an excellent choice in Matala. We enjoy ourselves in this hotel where we had been for 9 nights. The hotel is not far away from the beach in Matala and center of the Matala where are all of the restaurants, bars, shops, and another nice place. What is really excellent is the hosts, Stelios, and his family are so kind, always here to help and give advice, so thank you for their hospitality. Rooms are cozy and nice and they are cleaning every day.
Breakfast was every day quite the same but enough.
Best stay in Crete so far. Just amazing. Wonderful host.Great beds, showers and room cleanliness. Plan to stay here for a long stay soon. 5 minute walk to main beach and 20 minute walk to Red Beach over a small mountain. 150 feet to Hippie Village. A top 5 all time area (Matala) and I’ve been to 35 countries. Love the quaint small city. Superb beaches. Tons of restaurants on the water and along the town. No breakfast but 2 small restaurants 2 minutes away.
It is a complex of 4 2-floor appartments with a shared pool. On the upper floor is the bedroom, on the ground floor is a combination of living room and a well equipped kitchen.
Everything is clean, the service is excellent.
You can hear the traffic from the adjacent road but apart from that it is a very quiet area.
Matala center and beach are a 10 minute walk away, a convenient walking distance
Gorgeous new hostel minutes from the beach but with a pool to hang out at if its windy. Comfy beds w curtains on each for privacy and we had our own bathroom and balcony in the dorm. Well stocked big kitchen and great common space to hang made for meeting new people. Super friendly staff had all the great tips for making my stay in Matala fantastic. Best hostel I’ve stayed at in Crete!
Location is excellent, not far from Matala Beach and town centre and also easily accessible to other beaches including red beach and other sites like Kommos. We stayed here for one night as our plans were not firm, but the room suited our needs (interior was modern).
I like most of the things, the host was great, the bed was wonderful, even small things like plates glasses and other things was in the room. The location of staying was perfect, not far away from one of the coolest towns and beaches. Awesome for short term staying
We loved our stay at Dimitris villa hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. TV, air conditioning, fridge was working good. Pool area was amazing. Beach and city centre is in walking distance. We enjoyed our stay and we recommend the place to everyone.
Wonderful family run hotel close to center of Matala, steps from the beach, restaurants and shopping. Very warm and welcoming. Greek hospitality at it's best. Modern facilities, well decorated. Will definitely stay here again. Convenient parking provided.
It is a family run hotel, a 20-minute walk from Matala beach. The accommodation had 2 rooms. cramped with beds and other furniture. It had a slight 1980's feel to it. There is a pool as well as an adjacent breakfast/dinner covered space.
Very spacious and new room with balcony.
The hotel is very close to the beach and even has a pool. Plenty of parking available.
Breakfast buffet was very good and so was the optional buffet for dinner, which is excellent value.
The Coral was the best and most atmospheric hotel we stayed in in Greece. It is ideally l;ocated, spotlessly clean, spacious and the owner and staff are very helpful and friendly.
Clean, proper rooms and a well equipped common kitchen. Nicely decorated terrace and balcony to spend time. Close walking distance to the sea, beach and Mátala village.
Swimming pool, great location for Matala beach (10 min walk), large parking space in front of the entrance, very good continental breakfast.
Really clean.
