One is filled with a sense of history in old George Town. The unique "Straits Eclectic" architectural style of the myriad shophouses in various stages of disrepair and rejuvenation is awesome. We enjoyed great meals at the Firewood Restaurant and SOOD by Chef Ton with exemplary service, decor and fine food. George Town comes to life at night with plentiful bars, eateries and live music venues, both outdoors and indoors. Chulia Street, Beach Street and Love Lane are all worth visits after the sun sets. George Town, Penang is a lively and interesting place to visit. It has many old buildings, street art, and a mix of cultures. Walking around the city is fun, with lots of things to see like temples and colorful shophouses. The food is one of the best parts — there are many local dishes to try, and everything is delicious. The hotel damaged my silk evening gown and did not take responsiblity despite I advised their onduty personnel who saw the damage. And they took photophic evident for their management. I emailed them twice to follow upand have had no reply. the service of below par again and agin. A good mix of old and new.
A good mix of old and new. Towering modern hotels and condominiums sit side by side with rickety old streets, faded colonial buildings and lively cafes and restaurants. Penang Hill is probably the highlight, although the restricted access to some parts of the hill was a bit disappointing.
