The Mill, hotel in Downings

Situated in Dunfanaghy and only 2.3 km from Killahoey Beach, The Mill features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking.

The view of the lake from the most delightfully cosy room was amazing. The gardens are very well kept, and im sure must be beautiful in the summer when the flowers are in bloom. All the little extras in the room made our stay very special. It was warm and very comfortable and clean. There was a great choice on the breakfast menu, all deliciously cooked to.perfection. The mill is just a short walk from the town centre or a few minutes by car.

there are beautiful beach walks in the area but it takes some driving to get to them. It is a major golfing destination so very good for that. We are not golfers. We had a good time there with good beach walks. It is a remote area. We would have no reason to return.

The perfect base for exploring North Donegal, close enough to Glenveagh National Park, Fanad lighthouse (via Harry Blaney Bridge) and Inishowen Peninsula (via ferry from Rathmullan) Ards Forest Park (and Friary) only 20 mins away is well worth a visit, the coastal walk from Friary leads to the most spectacular secluded beaches There are two wonderful beaches, Tra Beag in the town and Tra Mor just outside. Plenty of places to eat with two hotels in the village, plus Fisks for Sea food, The Galley for Gourmet Burgers, Goose and Gander for Pizza, as well as the Singing Pub just outside the village (Steak on the Stone)

The beaches were beautiful, you could go for lovely long walks, and with 2 dogs with us, this was great. Ards Forest Park was lovely and worth many visits. We ate in the Singing Pub a number of times, food was excellent. Takeaways from the Goose and Gander very good. Golf at Rosapenna Golf Courses challenging and enjoyable. Altogether a great week in Downing’s. We will be back, hopefully.

We had a lovely time in Downings except for the weather but as we are from Belfast we are used to it. It is a very scenic place very down with nature which is a lovely change. There are very few shops most of the town seems to be closed which is a pity. Having transport is a must, you can travel around, we weren't able to see things due to the weather but there is nothing you can do about that.

From even before we arrived, Mairead had sent us a video explaining how to get to the location of Coastal Heaven. We were met by a lovely bubbly lady who couldn't have done much more for us during our first stay in Downings. She gladly told us what to see and do around the place and was more than willing to answer any questions and made sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. This place has an outdoor shower, which is definitely an experience on its own and what a class one it was. Many Thanks Mairead and we hope to be back soon.

Highly recommend this guesthouse. Phenomenal staff who could not do enough for us. The room was brand new in quality, recently refurbished and extraordinarily clean. The shebeen/bar was incredible and the pizza from the restaurant was the best we've all ever had. The Downings is a beautiful place, but made all the more beautiful by staying in such a friendly and welcoming spot, we'll definitely be back. Family ran establishment with a great attention to detail. No request was too much and breakfast was perfect.

This little apartment is situated in the centre of Downings directly beside all amenities and bars and restaurants. The apartment had everything we needed and an extremely comfy bed to boot. The host had provided some butter, dilute, biscuits coffee even some cereals. Couldnt have asked for better. At first, we were dubious about the outdoor shower but worked pretty well it was dry on our stay so no worry about rain, and not to mention the water was really hot which I love.

The apartment was more like villa vibes and had the best views of Downings from the outside dining area. The apartment itself had everything you and your party may need for a very comfortable and luxurious stay in Downings. Excellent kitchen, with all you will need, bedrooms are spacious and bright. Living area is modern and airy. Super guest experience and Dean looked after us well on arrival. Would highly recommend 👌

The house exceeded expectations. The location was great and so central for touring Donegal. There were lots of lovely restaurants just a 15 minute walk away in Downings. The host left all the basics; tea, coffee, milk, bread, oil etc. which was really helpful. We were in cottage 1 with the most amazing view! We didnt want to leave.
