FAQs about hotels in Munich

Beyond Oktoberfest

Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.

Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.

For great shopping, Karlsplatz is another commercial wonderland square that takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.

Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city centre from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

the trains took longer than we anticipated. this last train from neuschwanstein back to munich was at 610. this was very disappointing because we wanted to look though the grounds. I would be nice if you could catch a train as late as 830.

Lively fun city helped by a heatwave at the time and unexpected MASH, Tollwood and Pride festivals. Two trips with Mike's Bikes were great, particularly the City Cycle Tour to get orientation. Deutsche Museum huge and impressive. English Garden was unexpectedly good, with a large fun and safe Biergarten at the Chinese Tower. Only spent 4 nights there and wish had booked for longer as it is a great base for trips outside of Munich, we only had time to do one (Neuschwanstein Schloss).

Munich is a fun city, I walked 6 miles thru the heart of downtown on a history tour. Stop off at the Lowenbrau bar and grill near the Oedensplatz downtown for some great beer, had not had Lowenbrau for ages and the beer was really good there.

The city center is really beautiful with many small shops and bigger sized shopping centers. The city is really clean, and everybody can find something for themselves. As for the public transport we only used U-Bahn and it is easy to use, really quick and practical option to travel to different parts of the city. I was also fairly surprised how much green ground is in the city, there are many parks around, but the biggest one is the English garden right next to city center withing walking distance. I will be for sure visitin again since there is more to explore, but so far I really recommend visiting the city.

We had very little time in Munich, but enjoyed the Marienplatz, the Glockenspiel performance, the old town, the beautiful open green space near the museums close to the hotel, and eating at Hofbräuhaus. The city was so clean and people were polite. I tried my best to speak German as I am just learning, but the German people were so accommodating and patient with me while I attempted their beautiful language.

I liked the city, although the area around the train station is crowded and full of all kinds of people, some of them not particularly friendly. The city is (for the most part) clean, public transport is expensive but efficient. Of course, there are plenty of great tourist attractions.

This is a lovely, family run hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. My room was small, but very clean and with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good, with freshly cooked eggs and bacon in addition to the continental buffet. There is also a nice bar. The location is also good, with a five minute walk to the tram stop and just a few stops to the HBF and then a few further stops to the city centre. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Munich.

My 7 year-old loved the bunk bed! It’s very hard to find a hotel with a bunk bed over a double bed, perfect if you have a young child in the room with you. We were also able to watch the fireworks from our hotel window. Travelling from the hotel to Munich city centre was very easy since the U3 stops very close to the entrance.
