A pretty little town, easy to walk around the cobbled streets around the castle (or prison - fascinating history!). Ancient bridge...lots of character. Apparently the orange festival is an event not to be missed (early February).
We also drove to Lago de Viverone (1/2/ hour) - stunning. Amazing views, nice walk, & good places to eat. Highly recommended.

Ivrea is a historical place with nice places to visit. Having said that, there are not so many to fill a long staying, so do not plan along holiday here, unless you also plan to visit the many great restaurants located a bit everywhere in town.

Ivrea, although historic, was pretty limited in any entertainment.
The most enjoyable part of Ivrea was the bistro at the railway station. It served some of the best cuisine that I encountered in my 7 week visit to Italy. Top quality food at an affordable price. The staff were extremely courteous.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon so a lot of the shops were closed however the town still had lots of atmosphere. Ideally you would need 2 to 3 days to experience the place properly. We found a lovely little trattoria with great food and wine. The owner gave us some wise advice on how to avoid Milan on a Monday morning. Will look to return soon and explore the town more.

The historic centre was a delightful surprise.
The historic centre was a delightful surprise. The old town offers lots of variety of architectural features including, on the hill top, a turreted Castle and an elegantly proportioned Cathedral whilst the traffic-free Main Street has delightful squares. There are lots of cafes and good shops too - including a chocolate shop with excellent own-made chocolates. The side-streets towards the hill-side also hold some surprises, including ancient churches. Ivrea is on the pilgrim route to Rome. The river too has a cluster of interesting buildings. I chose Ivrea as an easy place for an overnight stop on a car journey from the UK to the Tuscan coast. It turned out to be an excellent choice. I plan to stop there again.
Very helpful owner, who also speaks English. The appartement is very luxury, with 3 bath rooms, a kitchen and a private parking space. The location from the city of Ivrea is on an excellent walking distance (even for kids)! Also the railway station (with connections to Aosta, Torino and Milano) is quite near (but you do not hear the trains in the appartement). There is airco in both bedrooms. Towels are provided. In the neighbourhood there are various shops.
What an absolute gem of a place in Ivrea and an ideal location for visiting the town. The room was probably the finest we've stayed in for a very long time. The finishing touches were fabulous. The welcome was superb and they couldn't have been any more helpful, recommending places to eat. Momo just a few doors down is well worth a visit. The breakfast was brilliant with more than enough choice to satisfy everyone.
The hotel is well designed and very relaxing . spacious room - we had the suite with extra bed . All beautifully kitted out, lovely Ortiga toiletries. Elijah was so helpful and advised us on best places to eat etc. Breakfast was plentiful with delicious homemade cake , fresh croissants , yogurt jams cold meats etc .
The host Barbara was very welcoming. We were surprised by how clean and comfortable was the house. Located right in the heart of ivrea makes any service easily accessible; on the other side of the square you even have a Despar minimarket that makes the stay even more comfy. We will definitly come back
Sarah (I guess the owner) was very welcoming and warm and very helpful. The residence is well placed close to the historic centre of Ivrea. It had nice restaurants in the close vicinity & walks in the garden & along the river were refrshing
We were a huge group of people, so we probably occupied the whole hotel. The apartments were nice and stylish, good eguiped kitchen, most of the beds comfy. Easy check-in and check-out.
