have known Coroico for many years from a time when it was only accessible via the “death road”. The town is in a coca and coffee growing area which has brought some wealth to the cultivators and they seem to invest their money into building simple hotels around town. Although, there is an overabundance of hotels many only open during fiestas or bank holidays when the Paceñas flock down from La Paz for a few days.
The town used to be a lively tourist destination where one could meet travelers from many countries all year round. Today Coroico is accessible in about two and half hours via the new road by hopping onto one of the many minibuses going there from the La Paz but the number of foreign tourists has substantially declined. Despite being a designated tourist destination, the local Coroico government does not seem to be particularly keen to take active steps to further tourism. This is a pity since Coroico offers a number of good spots and even has a Vegan restaurant. It is a good place to relax, do some laptop work or prepare for an exam in a pleasant environment. It also offers a number of easy walks. Smartphone/internet junkies may find it a little stressful at times since the WIFI in hotels, etc. is often unusable or only works during hours of low use. A good place to detox from the smart phone a bit…
Carlos and Wendy are lovely people, very friendly and made excellent pizza! They were very helpful and accommodating of our group, even when some flat tires made us later than expected. The buildings are in a beautiful location and the views were incredible. We were out of Coroico a little bit, so we had a very quiet and peaceful night, even though it was a holiday weekend when we stayed. The room was well stocked with water, sodas, wine, and rum.
Very nice staff, when we arrived we found out the swimming pool was under maintenance. The staff was very friendly and helped to find another hotel with swimming pool.
(on booking.com the option swimming pool was turned off, but we didn't see in advance, as the description and pictures still showed the swimming pool).
Looked old, but still fine.
Amazing hosts, ready to go the extra mile for you to have the best stay possible.
Not close to Coroico but it’s a good thing if you want a remote place to be in peace.
Great food and value for money, given that if you want to go anywhere else you have to get a cab
No wifi as promess
The tv room only had 3 chanels only one working for a short period
They keep open my room and looking for on my stuff
The pool was dirty as the whole hotel
Good sized room with balcony overlooking a great mountain view. Large hotel with extensive grounds. Secure parking, albeit a short walk away. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
I just loved the hotel, everything is new and fancy, the staff was friendly, the views are just mind blowing, the aesthetics of the place is amazing and the food was very tasty,
The location of the hotel was nice, in a beautiful and quiet place near Coroico. While the breakfast only consisted of a couple of wafles, they were good.
