Kolkata is indeed the city of joy.
Kolkata is indeed the city of joy. Walking through the street of Kolkata means, walking through history, culture and heritage. One or two days are nothing for Kolkata. To know Kolkata, to see Kolkata you need at least a month to get the best essence of the trip. Old part of the city as well as modern part of the city has so many beautiful things to offer for a tourist. I think Kolkata is the best place to enrich ones knowledge of arts, music, literature and what not?

This was my first time visiting Kolkata.
This was my first time visiting Kolkata. I had heard that it was very congested, old, run down and dirty. I found it to be the same as most of the other big cities in India. Liked the history. However the old Kolkata could do with an uplift. To preserve some of the old buildings they need to be refurbished.

City of joy as the mane suggest is a happy city.
City of joy as the mane suggest is a happy city. Not too expensive as compared to other metros. Food is mind blowing. Street food is recommended. For shopping gariahat or new market. Local sightseeing can be done via uber which is comparatively cheaper. Nicco park would take an entire day, mind u. Rest u can cover in two days. Plan your itinerary in advance. Wax museum and ecological park are nearby. New market n Indian museum are adjacent, so n all. Hence plan like that. Happy stay.
The Astor is a lovely heritage hotel in a quieter part of Kolkata, than say, New Market, but is still only a 10-minute walk to central Park Street. There are some goods shops and restaurants around.
The buffet breakfast and eggs cooked to order were very good, as was the food in the dining room. The ambience of the dining room is beautiful olde world charm.
The Staff were polite and helpful, and enabled us to have an early check-in, so we had a drink in the dining room, whilst the room was being made up.
First of all the hospitality of the management was 👍 super👍 and secondly the staffs were friendly and the food is out of the world.Next time whenever i visit kolkata BEST BUY HOTEL will always be my first choice of stay as the location is also just in the heart of Kolkata and all the shopping markets are just some few kilometres away. And last but not the least 😁like most of the other hotels the staffs did not ask for tips. Hats off to the professionalism 👍
Being my first visit to the country of India from the US I was a bit unsure how our accommodations may differ from the US. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. First, the staff at this hotel shines. They are so kind, welcoming and eager to help. Everyone greets you with a smile on their face. We approached the desk on our first day to ask about suggestions for things to do on a free day and stayed with us to ensure we were comfortable and safe.
"The hotel is located in a prime location, close to the airport and major attractions in Kolkata. The hotel is easily accessible from the railway station and bus terminals. The hotel offers well-furnished rooms with comfortable beds and basic amenities. The rooms are spacious, clean, and equipped with modern amenities like air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. The staff ensures that they are well-maintained.
“I had an excellent stay at the Grand oberoi Hotel in Kolkata! Not only is the hotel centrally located, making it convenient to explore the city, but the service provided by the management and staff was truly exceptional. Additionally, the breakfast offered at the hotel was delicious and of high quality. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Calcutta for a comfortable stay with excellent amenities.”
"Hospitality, kindness, cleanliness an service were there excellent. reception staff was very professional as well as their general manager too.I can only advise you to continue this waysame if it would be nice to offer some south indian food at the breakfast… Be sure if I had to come back in Kolkata in the future, I’ll come back there ! And I’d recommand certainly your Hôtel."
Lovely hotel in a central location nearby the main shopping area of Camac Street and Park Street. Very safe and affordable. Friendly and professional services by the staff making you feel very comfortable and had a relaxing and enjoyable stay here. Definitely recommended and will sure to visit this hotel again when in Kolkata.
Great hotel in affordable price range. Nice breakfast with awesome Kitchen stuffs. Really appreicate the help of kitchen stuff for suggesting the right medicine for my wife's stomach problem. Surely, will look forward to stay again in The Crystal whenever visiting Kolkata next time. Thank you for your service.!!
This is a hotel I come back again and again. The breakfast is really awesome. Best in the town. The location, the helpfulness of the staff is amazing. They come to every guest's table to ask if everything is ok and if we like anything special. When I think of visiting Kolkata, I get excited because of Oberoi.
The Indian breakfast choices were my favorite. The location, albeit on a busy Park Street, is very good, with an excellent restaurant, One Step Up, right downstairs. Furlys cafe and restaurant, an institution in Kolkata, is right down the street, if you may crave to visit that kind of place.
The staff - ever willing to satisfy our requests. The ambience was so serene especially, with soft Indian classical music(flute)wafting through the hotel early in the morning. And the food was absolutely brilliant especially for a Bong in Kolkata during Pujo.
Thank you for your hospitality. We will surely come back again. You know who we are, we are from Mizoram, a young couple with child. We thank you in everything. You were the best hotel wev'e been in india. Thank You So Much. Love from us.
This is a very nice hotel in the centre of Kolkata. The staff are superb. The room was very comfortable. Food was generally very good - breakfast is excellent, one of the best breakfast buffets that I have seen.
Room was neat & clean, they offered me free Netflix & Amazon prime in the room (smart tv ) , kitchen was good spacious, everything was good. It’s one off the best hotel near Kolkata airport & Salt Lake City
This is a small quiet hotel in the heart of Kolkata - just a few blocks away from park street (walking distance). The staff was really nice, the rooms are clean and cosy. They also serve breakfast.
